This process assumes that you have already installed the Cloud Cruiser extensions in the Windows Azure Pack Admin Site and Tenant Site, either as part of your Windows Azure Pack installation or by selecting them from the Microsoft Web Platform Installer. Scroll down to see a video version.

To install Cloud Cruiser Express and integrate it with Microsoft Windows Azure Pack

  1. Configure Windows Azure Pack to make usage data available.
There are several components that provide data on VM usage to Windows Azure Pack, and if they are not configured correctly this data is not placed in Windows Azure Pack’s usage database where it can be collected by Cloud Cruiser Express. The following series of Microsoft blog articles explains the components involved and how to configure them:
    1. IaaS Usage and Service Reporting using System Center 2012 R2 and Windows Azure Pack
    2. Configuring VMM and OM for IaaS usage and metering
    3. Configuring SPF and Windows Azure Pack for IaaS usage and metering

The series contains four articles, but only the three listed here are relevant to making data available to Cloud Cruiser Express.

  2. Install and configure a supported database and give Cloud Cruiser Express access.
For more information, see Configuring your database server.
  3. Install Java 7 on the Cloud Cruiser Express computer and set its installation path as an environment variable.
For more information, see Configuring Java.
  4. Set a password for the Windows Azure Pack Usage REST API user.
For more information, see Setting the Windows Azure Pack API password.
  5. Install the Cloud Cruiser Express application.
For more information, see Installing the Cloud Cruiser Express application.
  6. Register your REST API endpoint in Windows Azure Pack.
For more information, see Registering the REST API endpoint with Windows Azure Pack.

What to do next

You might want to do one or more of the following:

  • Log in to the Cloud Cruiser Express Portal to explore the available reports and start configuring the product. For instructions, see Accessing the Cloud Cruiser Express Portal.
  • If you completed installation despite receiving a Credentials are invalid message on the Azure Pack Parameters screen of the installer, you must provide correct Windows Azure Pack credentials to enable Cloud Cruiser Express to collect subscription and usage data. For instructions, see Completing an installation that did not connect to Windows Azure Pack.
  • Cloud Cruiser recommends that you modify the pricing for Windows Azure Pack services to reflect your own pricing model. These services are called resources in Cloud Cruiser Express. For information about changing the prices, or rates , that you charge for your resources, see Setting initial resource rates.
  • When you have enough days of collected charges at your desired rates, consider enabling tenants to view their own costs in the management portal for tenants. For instructions, see Allowing tenants to view their costs.
