Cloud Cruiser became HPE Consumption Analytics on Nov. 1, 2018. You'll still see the old name in places while we update this site.

This topic defines some of the terms commonly used to describe the FC implementation of Cloud Cruiser

Term Definition
Account structure Specifies the different levels at which data can be reported. For the FC implementation, the account structure is WW|Region|Sub-Region|Country|Customer|Location|Device|Equipment.
Buffer capacity Installed capacity above the minimum level. Customers may use buffer capacity anytime they need it. However, doing so can affect their monthly commitment for the following month. The amount of available buffer capacity can vary over time, within contractual limits.
Collector Associates collected usage data with a database schema.
Committed capacity A minimum level of a given resource, for which a customer has agreed to pay. This was known formerly as the baseline capacity.
Customer alias

A unique identifier for the source of usage data. This alias is in the file name of the email attachment received from the FC customer. That file name has the following format
<category>_<customer_alias>_<ip>_<rsvd>_<timestamp>.<extension>

The customer alias usually consists of the first 5 parts of the account structure (such as HP-EMEA-999-DEU-00021), but could be the customer name (such as AceRun).

The customer alias is also the name of the directory created under the ${env.processDir}/_byCustomer directory, which contains usage files after they have been processed by the _ProcessUsage worksheet.

Customer ID The 5-digit unique identifier for an FC customer. For example, 00021. The customer ID is used as the fifth level in the account structure.
Dimension A data field containing qualitative or categorical information. Dimensions provide context around the value of a measure, answering questions like "What type?" and "When?" Examples include Serial NumberPort Name, and VM Id.
Installed capacity The resources available for use on a day-to-day basis. This can vary as hardware is brought in and out of service for maintenance purposes.
Measure A data field containing quantitative usage information. Measures answer the question, "How much?" Examples include CPU Count,Memory Used, and Disk Size.
Rate plan Rate plans enable you to define alternate rates for individual services for one or more customers.
Requested capacity The resources installed to satisfy the committed capacity.
Service Anything in your computing environment for which you want to charge, such as storage consumption, storage I/O, CPU consumption, and so on. Services map measures to rate plans
Workbook A batch job that gathers usage data through collectors, transforms it, and publishes it to schemas in the Cloud Cruiser database.
Worksheet A collection of workflow within a workbook. You can define multiple worksheets in a workbook.
