Loading Azure for Partner Center Usage and Charge Data

It is possible to execute Workbook Flows in one of two ways -- via the Workbook itself or via the Scheduling section of the portal.  The first is most useful when implementing a solution or testing out a change to a Workbook; however, when the goal is simply to load usage data, it is highly recommended to use the Schedules.  This precludes the possibility of undesired changes to the Workbooks.

Collecting Daily Usage Data

This is only necessary if the Partner Center Usage Collect Schedule didn't run in its automated fashion.

Before You Begin

Ensure that the file at ${env.usageDir}/AzureX/collection.properties, where X is the corresponding region, is properly configured per the instructions at Collector Properties.

To Collect the Data

  1. Click Data > Processing > Scheduling.
  2. In the Schedules section, select the Partner Center Usage Collect Schedule.
  3. Click Run.
  4. Set the Select Date to the desired pre-populated choices, or set it to Specific Date Range and set the Start Date and End Date as desired.
  5. Click OK.
The Schedule will execute for each of the selected days one day at a time.
  6. The resulting file(s) will be created at ${env.usageDir}/AzureX/usage/${env.selectDate}.csv, where X is the corresponding region.

Collecting Daily Partner Rates Data

This is only necessary if the Partner Center Rates Collect Schedule didn't run in its automated fashion.

Rates should only be collected "day of" as Microsoft Azure does not keep historical rates.

Before You Begin

Ensure that the file at ${env.usageDir}/AzureX/collection.properties, where X is the corresponding region, is properly configured per the instructions at Collector Properties.

To Collect the Data

  1. Click Data > Processing > Scheduling.
  2. In the Schedules section, select the Partner Center Rates Collect Schedule.
  3. Click Run.
  4. Set the Select Date to the desired pre-populated choices, or set it to Specific Date Range and set the Start Date and End Date as desired.
  5. Click OK.
The Schedule will execute for each of the selected days one day at a time.
  6. The resulting file(s) will be created at ${env.usageDir}/AzureX/rates/${env.selectDate}.csv, where X is the corresponding region.

Collecting Daily Partner Rates Data

This is only necessary if the Partner Center Retail Rates Collect Schedule didn't run in its automated fashion.

  2. In the Schedules section, select the Partner Center Retail Rates Collect Schedule.
  3. Click Run.
  4. Set the Select Date to the desired pre-populated choices, or set it to Specific Date Range and set the Start Date and End Date as desired.
  5. Click OK.
The Schedule will execute for each of the selected days one day at a time.
  6. The resulting file(s) will be created at ${env.usageDir}/AzureX/retailRates/${env.selectDate}.csv, where X is the corresponding region.

Process Daily Usage and Rates Data

This is only necessary if the _Partner_Center (Daily) Schedule didn't run in its automated fashion.

Before You Begin

Ensure that the files at ${env.usageDir}/AzureX/usage/${env.selectDate}.csv, where X is the corresponding region, exist for both the desired date as well as the day after.  This is necessary as Azure can report usage a day late.

To Process the Data

  1. Click Data > Processing > Scheduling.
  2. In the Schedules section, select the _Partner_Center (Daily) Schedule.
  3. Click Run.
  4. Set the Select Date to the desired pre-populated choices, or set it to Specific Date Range and set the Start Date and End Date as desired.
  5. Click OK.
The Schedule will execute for each of the selected days one day at a time.
  6. The resulting file(s) will be created at ${env.usageDir}/AzurePC/usage/processed/${env.selectDate}.ccr.

Sort Daily Usage Data Per Customer

This is only necessary if the _ProcessUsage (Azure Daily) Schedule didn't run in its automated fashion.

Before You Begin

Ensure that the file at ${env.usageDir}/AzurePC/usage/processed/${env.selectDate}.csv exists.

To Sort the Data

  1. Click Data > Processing > Scheduling.
  2. In the Schedules section, select the _ProcessUsage (Azure Daily) Schedule.
  3. Click Run.
  4. Set the Select Date to the desired pre-populated choices, or set it to Specific Date Range and set the Start Date and End Date as desired.
  5. Click OK.
The Schedule will execute for each of the selected days one day at a time.
  6. The resulting file(s) will be created at ${env.processingDir}/_byCustomer/<customer name>/${env.selectDate}.ccr.

Collect and Process Monthly Usage and Charges Data

This is only necessary if the _Partner_Center (Monthly) Schedule didn't run in its automated fashion.

This should only be run after the entire month's daily data has been processed, loaded, and charged into the Cloud Cruiser database.

Before You Begin

Ensure that the entire month has been processed and loaded into the Cloud Cruiser database.

To Process the Data

  1. Click Data > Processing > Scheduling.
  2. In the Schedules section, select the _Partner_Center (Monthly) Schedule.
  3. Click Run.
  4. Set the Select Date to Specific Date Range and set both the Start Date and End Date to the last day of the desired month.
  5. Click OK.
The Schedule will execute for the last day of the month against the entire month.
  6. The resulting file(s) will be created at ${env.usageDir}/AzurePC/monthlyUsage/processed/${env.selectDate}.ccr.

Sort Monthly Usage Data Per Customer

This is only necessary if the _ProcessUsage (Azure Monthly) Schedule didn't run in its automated fashion.

Before You Begin

Ensure that the file at ${env.usageDir}/AzurePC/monthlyUsage/processed/${env.selectDate}.ccr exists.

To Sort the Data

  1. Click Data > Processing > Scheduling.
  2. In the Schedules section, select the _ProcessUsage (Azure Monthly) Schedule.
  3. Click Run.
  4. Set the Select Date to Specific Date Range and set both the Start Date and End Date to the last day of the desired month.
  5. Click OK.
The Schedule will execute for the last day of the month against the entire month.
  6. The resulting file(s) will be created at ${env.processingDir}/_byCustomer/<customer name>/${env.selectDate}.ccr.

Loading Data

Although Schedules are used for automated execution of the Workbook Flows, they can also be run ad hoc.  This is the recommended approach instead of using the Workbook directly.

These steps work regardless of daily or monthly data.

Before You Begin

Just like with other services, the Azure usage needs to have propagated through the workflow to be written to the ${env.processingDir}/_byCustomer/<customer name>/${env.selectDate}.ccr file so ensure that the corresponding day(s) files have been created

To Load the Data

  1. Click Data > Processing > Scheduling.
  2. In the Schedules section, select the desired customer-specific Schedule.
  3. Click Run.
  4. Set the Select Date to the desired pre-populated choices, or set it to Specific Date Range and set the Start Date and End Date as desired.
  5. Click OK.
The Schedule will execute for each of the selected days one day at a time.
  6. Click Data > Processing > Published Loads.
  7. A load will exist with the Process Name corresponding to the customer-specific Workbook name and the Accounting Date corresponding to ${env.selectDate}.

If data is being republished, the existing data loads must be deleted.  Follow the steps at Deleting data loads prior to these steps, if that is the case.

Charging Data

These steps work regardless of daily or monthly data.

Before You Begin

Ensure that the Rate Plan has been selected according to the steps at Setting an Azure for Partner Center Customer Rate Plan and that all the steps through Loading Daily Usage Data have been followed for each day.

To Charge the Data

Follow the steps at Loading charge data for each day that has been loaded.
