Publishing the included workbooks

This article explains how to publish the workbooks that ship with Cloud Cruiser to make them available in the Cloud Cruiser Portal. A workbook is a specific grouping and filtering of rows and columns to produce a set of analytics reports. You can also create your own workbooks to view Cloud Cruiser data in new ways. Perform the procedure in this article for each of:

  • The workbooks in the ​<install_dir>/analytics/Core directory
  • If you have a What-If license, <install_dir>/analytics/Insights/Rate Modeling.twb.
    This workbook is required for the Analyze feature of What-If.
  • Any other workbooks you want to use, including ones you have created 

Upon opening the following workbooks in HPE Consumption Analytics Portal Desktop, you might need to use the Cloud Cruiser application user (ccadmin by default) credentials instead of the reporting user (ccreport by default):

  • Transaction List.twb
  • User List.twb
  • Rate Modeling.twb

Other workbooks that ship with Cloud Cruiser in the CSPEnterprise, and Insights directories require editing to make them work with your data, so HPE recommends that you do not publish them now.

Available workbooks

Before you begin

If you have not done so already, set up the data source for HPE Consumption Analytics Portal as described in Setting up the data source.

To publish a workbook

  1. Double-click the workbook file to open it in HPE Consumption Analytics Portal Desktop.
    For example, <install_dir>/analytics/Core/Account Trend.twb.
    •  If you receive a Custom SQL Warning, click Yes to connect, then click Cancel in the login prompt that follows.
    •  If you receive an Extract Not Found message, select Locate the extract and click OK. Then browse to<install_dir>/analytics/datasource/<databaseType> and select the charges.tde extract file, then click Open.
    •   You might also receive a warning that the workbook will be upgraded when it is saved. This is normal.
    •  If you are prompted to log on to HPE Consumption Analytics Portal Server (Tableau Server), click Cancel.
       This prompt appears only the first time you publish a workbook while HPE Consumption Analytics Portal Desktop is running.
  2. Change the workbook to pull data from your Cloud Cruiser database instead of the local extract file that was used to develop it.
    1. From the Data menu, choose Connect to Data.
      The Connect window appears.
    2. Under On a server, click Tableau Server.
      If this item is already selected, skip to step 7.
    3. At the logon prompt, enter the name and port of your Cloud Cruiser Analytics Server machine and the administrator username and password you created when you installed Cloud Cruiser Analytics Server, then click Sign In.
    4. Select the CloudCruiser site and click OK.
    5. Click the charges data source.
      The connection is made and the default view of the workbook reappears.
    6. From the Data menu, choose Replace Data Source.
    7. Verify that the current data source (usually temp_charges ) is being replaced by charges , then click OK.
    8. From the Data menu, choose temp_charges > Close to close the temp_charges data source.
  3.  Save the workbook.
    You’ve successfully pointed the workbook to the correct data source and enforced permissions to customer data. Now you need to publish the workbook to HPE Consumption Analytics Portal Server to make it available to users.
  4. From the Server menu, choose Publish Workbook.
    The Publish Workbook dialog box appears.
  5. In the Generate Thumbnails As User list, choose the username with which you logged into HPE Consumption Analytics Portal Server. Then click Publish.
  6. If prompted to embed credentials, click Yes.
  7. If prompted to log on to the data source, enter your SQL Server username and password, then click OK.
  8. Close the Publish Workbook Results window.
