This article is part of To install Cloud Cruiser:

2. Configure Java

After you install Java on the machine where you will install Cloud Cruiser, you must set an environment variable called JAVA_HOME to the location of your Java installation.

Make sure you install the correct 64-bit version of Java for your version of Cloud Cruiser. The Cloud Cruiser installer will fail if your JAVA_HOME variable points to an incorrect version of Java. The following versions are correct:

  • For Cloud Cruiser 4.2 and later: Java 8
  • For Cloud Cruiser 4.0 and 4.1: Java 7

In Windows

  1. Open the System Properties form.
Using Windows Explorer, one way to open this form is by clicking Start and entering environment variables in the search box, then selecting Edit the system environment variables from the results.
  2. In the Advanced page of the System Properties form, click Environment Variables.
  3. In the System variables panel of the Environment Variables form, click New....
  4. In the Variable name field, enter JAVA_HOME.
  5. In the Variable value field, enter the path to your Java installation.
    For example: C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_141
  6. Click OK.

In Linux

Execute the following command: export JAVA_HOME=<Java_path>.
