Publishing workbooks

This section explains how to publish the workbooks that ship with Cloud Cruiser. A workbook is a specific grouping of rows and columns to produce a set of analytics reports. You can create your own workbooks to view Cloud Cruiser data in new ways.

Perform the procedure that follows this table for each workbook file in the
<install_dir>/analytics/Core directory and for any others you want to use. The others, in <install_dir>/analytics/CSP/ and <install_dir>/analytics/Enterprise/, likely require editing to make them work with your data.

The following workbooks are available:

<install_dir>/analytics/Core/Account Trend.twb

Yearly Trend has graphs that show your total revenue broken out by highest-level account, the revenue trend for each of those accounts for the year, and the total revenue trend for the year with each month segmented by account. A table shows revenue numbers for each account for each month of the year.

  • Invoice With Fixed Charges shows an invoice broken out into fixed and variable charges for each service.
  • Standard Invoice shows an invoice.

Top Accounts shows the top highest-level accounts by both revenue and cost, with a chart and a table for each metric.

  • Revenue and Profitability has a graph that shows accounts by both revenue and profitability and another that shows service groups by revenue. It also has a table showing cost and revenue for each service.
  • Reseller Customer Revenue has a graph that shows the revenue trend for each reseller by month and a table that shows cost, revenue, and profitability for the customers of those resellers.

  • Service Revenue Forecast has a graph that shows a revenue forecast for the coming year by service group based on the current year and another that shows revenue by service group. It also has a table showing revenue and cost by service group.
  • Target Revenue by Month has both a line graph and a bar graph that show actual vs. target revenue by month.

Services by Department has a graph that shows service group revenue by business unit and a table that shows overall service group revenue, cost, and profitability.

Before you begin

Set up the data source for HPE Consumption Analytics Portal as described in Setting up the data source.

To publish a workbook

  1. Double-click the workbook file to open it in Cloud Cruiser Analytics Desktop.
    For example, <install_dir>/analytics/Core/Account Trend.twb.

    If you receive an Extract Not Found message, select Locate the extract and click OK. Then browse to<install_dir>/analytics/datasource/<databaseType> and select the ccdb.tde extract file, then click Open.

  2. If you are prompted to log on to Cloud Cruiser Analytics Server, click Cancel.
    This prompt appears only the first time you publish a workbook while Cloud Cruiser Analytics Desktop is running.
  3. From the Data menu, choose Connect to Data.
  4. Under On a server , click Tableau Server.
    If this item is already selected, skip to step 7.
  5. At the logon prompt, enter the name and port of your Cloud Cruiser Analytics Server machine and the username and password you created when you installed Cloud Cruiser Analytics Server, then click Logon.
  6. Select the CloudCruiser site and click OK.
  7. Click the ccdb data source.
  8. From the Data menu, choose Replace Data Source.
  9. Verify that the current data source (usually demo ) is being replaced by ccdb , then click OK.
  10. From the Data menu, choose demo > Close to close the demo data source.
  11. From the File menu, choose Save.
    You’ve successfully changed the workbook to pull data from your Cloud Cruiser database. Now you need to publish the workbook to Cloud Cruiser Analytics Server to make it available to users.
  12. From the Server menu, choose Publish Workbook. In the dialog box, click Publish.
  13. If prompted to embed credentials, click Yes.
  14. If prompted to log on to the data source, enter your SQL Server username and password, then click OK.
  15. Close the Publish Workbook Results window.
