You must install a compatible database server in accordance with the vendor’s recommendations and best practices. Then perform the tasks here that are relevant to your database platform before installing Cloud Cruiser.
If installing the database server on a dedicated server (recommended), ensure that the server’s firewall is properly configured to allow external access from the Cloud Cruiser application server.
If the database server will reside on the same machine as the Cloud Cruiser application, ensure that sufficient hardware resources (memory, disk, and processor cores) are provisioned.
Before installing the Cloud Cruiser application, make note of a database administrator username and password, the database server’s IP address or hostname, its port number, and ensure that the database server is running.
No additional steps are required for an Oracle database server.
This section explains the configuration you must perform to SQL Server before running the Cloud Cruiser installer.
If your SQL Server database is hosted on Microsoft Windows Azure, see the Knowledge Base article Installing with an Azure SQL database. In this case the configuration listed here does not apply.
Cloud Cruiser recommends that you set SQL Server to Mixed Mode authentication. You can set this option either during or after installation of SQL Server.
You can use Windows authentication, but it requires an extra step after installing Cloud Cruiser. For more information, see Configuring Windows authentication with SQL Server.
Cloud Cruiser requires the TCP/IP protocol, which is disabled by default.
