Managing reports
If you have the necessary permissions, you can edit reports, copy existing reports to create new ones, distribute reports via email, and/or edit report distribution.
You cannot edit delivered reports (identified by the lock icon at left in the Reports list), but you can copy them to create your own.
Sharing reports and editing shared reports requires the Manage Shared Reports permission. Also, if you have the Manage Shared Reports permission, you can distribute reports through email to selected users and groups.
If you have the Manage Views permission, you can decide which users or groups of users can see each report in their views, through either the Report Details page or the Report widget.

Editing reports
To edit an existing user report (identified by the user icon at left in the Reports page), follow these instructions.
- If you want to change only the distribution of a report, you can do so directly from the Reports page (see Editing report distribution below).
- If you want to set up distribution of a report, see Distributing reports in email below.
- If you want to create a new report from an existing one, see Copying reports below.
To edit a report
- Click Reports in the left navigation (if you're already on the Reports page in your default view, you can skip to step 2).
The Reports page displays a list of default reports (identified by the lock icon) and your user reports (identified by the user icon). - On the Reports page, click the ellipsis icon next to the report you want to edit.
- Select Edit from the pulldown list.
The report opens in the report editor:
- Edit the report as needed and save it, following the procedure shown in Creating reports.
Exporting reports
You can export a report to CSV, PDF, or Excel (.xlsx) in Edit mode.
To export a report
- Click Reports in the left navigation (if you're already on the Reports page in your default view, you can skip to step 2).
The Reports page displays a list of default reports (identified by the lock icon) and your user reports (identified by the user icon). - Click the ellipsis icon next to the report you want to edit.
- Select Edit from the pulldown list.
- Click the download icon:
- Click the desired export format from the pulldown list:
When exporting to CSV:
If your PC settings associate CSV files with Notepad or an app other than Excel, select Export to Excel, then save the .xlsx file as a CSV.
The report is downloaded to your computer. - Open the report to validate it:
Copying reports
If you want to create a report based on an existing report, you can make a copy and edit it.
To copy a report
- On the Reports page, click the ellipsis icon next to the report you want to copy,.
- Select Copy in the pulldown list.
A copy of the report opens in the report editor (it will have 'Copy' appended to the report name at upper left). - Edit the report as needed and save it, following the procedure shown in Creating reports.
Be sure to give the new report a new name and description.
Distributing reports in email
You can distribute any report by email to HPE Consumption Analytics platform users and groups.
Distributing a report
To distribute a report in email
- Open the Report Distribution dialog box from the Reports page using one of the following methods:
- Click the ellipsis next to a report and select Toggle Distribution.
- Open one of the reports in the list, and then click the Email icon.
- Set the Distribution toggle to Active if distribution isn't already active.
- In the Distribution Frequency field, select how often to email the report.
- Depending on the frequency you selected, edit the <On day and/or On Hour fields to specify exactly when the report is sent.
- In the Time Period field, select the range of data to use in the report.
This range is relative to the frequency you selected./p> For example, if you schedule weekly distribution of the report, and you select a time period of the previous 30 days, the first report sent includes 30 days of new data. The next time the report is sent, it includes 23 days of data that was included in the previous report, plus 7 days of new data./p>
- In the Export Format field, select the report file type attached to the email.
- In the SendTo field, select one or more users or groups to receive this report.
The report must also be shared with these users and groups for them to receive its distribution.
After you select them from the list, they are added to the Shared with Whom? field. - In the Email Subject field, enter a subject line for the email.
- In the Email Body field, enter the text to include in the body of the email.
- Click Save.
The users you specified will receive the report by email.
Editing report distribution
If you want to change only the distribution of a report, you can do so directly from the Reports page.
To edit the distribution of a report
- On the Reports page, click the ellipsis next to the report for which you want to change distribution, and then select Toggle Distribution.
The DisTRibution report dialog box opens. - Edit the distribution as needed, following the procedure under Distributing reports in email above.
- Click Save.
