Copying steps and processors

Copying steps and processors can save you time and effort. If you know that an existing workbook step would be useful with minimal editing in the same workbook, consider copying that step. For example, you might have a Publish Data step that is essentially the same for different flows in the same workbook. Similarly, you can copy Transformation step processors for reuse in a different  workbook. For example, you might have Transformation steps for complex billing rules, and different workbooks for each of several data sources.

To copy a step to the same workbook

  1. Right-click the step you want to copy, and select one of the following options:
    • Copy Step > To <name_of_sheet>, where <name_of_sheet> is the name of an existing sheet in the workbook.
The step is copied to the specified sheet as the last step in the flow.
    • Copy Step > To New Sheet.
A new sheet is created, with the copied step as the only step in the flow.
  2. If necessary, edit the new step.
  3. Click Save to save the changes to your workbook.

To copy a Transformation step processor to a different workbook

  1. In the source workbook, right-click in the flow and select View Expert Flow.
The Expert Flow dialog box opens.
  2. In the Expert Flow dialog box, drag to select the Transformation step with the processors you want to copy.
