CloudSmart-Now

HPE Consumption Analytics Portal includes the CloudSmart-Now packaged offering, which works out-of-the-box with minimal configuration, enabling you to collect, process, and publish billing data faster than with standard collection methods. CloudSmart-Now also makes it easy to see your total consumption of cloud services through out-of-the-box reports.

CloudSmart-Now solutions are available for the following public and private clouds:

As part of the CloudSmart-Now packaged offering, HPE Consumption Analytics Portal includes services for private cloud data sources to handle common chargeback use cases, and automatically matches usage to these services. Additionally, HPE Consumption Analytics Portal includes baseline rates to speed implementation time. These are based on a sampling of actual service-provider rates to provide a realistic starting point for your needs.

To configure CloudSmart-Now

  1. Install and configure HPE Consumption Analytics Portal, as described in Installation process overview.
  2. HPE Consumption Analytics Portal includes a default account structure that works seamlessly with CloudSmart-Now workbooks. Verify that this structure suits the needs of your organization. See Working with account structures for more information.
  3. HPE Consumption Analytics Portal includes services for Windows Azure Pack and vCenter data sources to handle common chargeback use cases. (AWS and Windows Azure Pack use passthrough services). With CloudSmart-Now, usage is automatically matched to one of these services. If you are collecting data from Windows Azure Pack or vCenter, verify that the default services installed with HPE Consumption Analytics Portal suit your needs. For more information, see Managing services.
  4. HPE Consumption Analytics Portal includes baseline rates for the default services to speed implementation time. These are based on a sampling of actual service-provider rates to provide a realistic starting point for your needs. If you are collecting data from Windows Azure Pack or vCenter, verify that the default rates installed with HPE Consumption Analytics Portal suit your needs. (AWS and Windows Azure Pack use passthrough rates.) For more information, see Managing rate plans.
  5. CloudSmart-Now workbook templates use VM sizing lookup tables to match the VMs in your environment to commonly-used VM configurations. Verify that the VM sizes in these tables suit your needs. For more information, see VM sizing guidelines for CloudSmart-Now.
  6. Assign your resources to owners in your environment, as described in Assigning resource ownership.
This enables you to identify resource owners in reports. If you are using AWS tags or Microsoft Azure fields in your source data to assign resource ownership, you can skip this step.
  7. Create workbooks and schedule regular collection of your data, as described in Collecting, transforming, and publishing.
