In Linux, the installer attempts to locate any existing installations to determine whether to do an upgrade or a new installation. It searches several well-known directories for a Cloud Cruiser installation: $CCAPP_ROOT, $USER_HOME, /usr/local, and /opt.

In some cases the installer can erroneously identify an existing installation. In version 4.1.3 and later, you can control the installer's auto-detection behavior by using additional parameters when launching the installer.

To disable upgrade mode, forcing a new installation

  • Launch the installer with the upgrade parameter set to false:
    java -Dupgrade=false -jar ccinstall-<version>-standard.jar

To force upgrade mode

  • Launch the installer with the upgrade parameter set to true and specify the location of the existing installation with the existingInstallLocation parameter:
    java -Dupgrade=true -DexistingInstallLocation=<existingInstallPath> -jar ccinstall-<version>-standard.jar
