5. Configure Cloud Cruiser

This article explains how to license HPE Consumption Analytics Portal for Insights and how to configure the product to work with HPE Consumption Analytics Portal Analytics Server.

If your HPE Consumption Analytics Portal installation will have more than one application instance as documented in Setting up multiple application instances and you will use HPE Consumption Analytics Portal Analytics with them, this procedure requires extra or different steps. Contact Cloud Cruiser for assistance.

Before you begin

  • Publish workbooks to HPE Consumption Analytics Portal Server as described in Publishing workbooks.
  • From your HPE representative, obtain the XML license file for the level of HPE Consumption Analytics Portal you purchased, either Insights or What-If.

To license HPE Consumption Analytics Portal for Insights

  1. Browse to your HPE Consumption Analytics Portal Portal and log in as an administrator user.
    Instructions
    If you will also be performing the next procedure in this article, save a step there by logging in with a username that also exists on HPE Consumption Analytics Portal Server.
  2. Click Administration > Configuration > General > License.
    The window shows your current license level, Foundation.
  3. In the toolbar, click Upload License.
    The Upload License File dialog appears.
  4. Click Choose File, then choose your XML license file.
  5. Click OK, then in the confirmation dialog click OK.
    The window shows your new license level.

To configure HPE Consumption Analytics Portal for Analytics

  1. Log in to the HPE Consumption Analytics Portal Portal as an administrator user whose username also exists on HPE Consumption Analytics Portal Server.
    HPE Consumption Analytics Portal passes the name of its current user to HPE Consumption Analytics Portal Server with each request, so if you are logged in here with a username that does not exist on HPE Consumption Analytics Portal Server, you will be unable to successfully test the connection in this procedure.
  2. Go to Administration > Configuration > General.
  3. On the Analytics tab set the Enable Analytics option to Yes.
  4. Enter or select values in the fields that appear:
    • Server: The hostname of the HPE Consumption Analytics Portal​ Analytics Server computer.
      This must be a hostname or IP address that resolves correctly for all client computers that will use HPE Consumption Analytics Portal.
    • Port: The HTTP port on the HPE Consumption Analytics Portal​ Analytics Server computer. The default value is 80. Make sure you enter the port number that you specified during the installation.
    • Use SSL: Determines whether to use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to communicate with the HPE Consumption Analytics Portal​ Analytics Server computer. Leave the default value of No unless you have configured HPE Consumption Analytics Portal​ Analytics Server to use SSL.
    • Database Port: The PostgreSQL database port on the HPE Consumption Analytics Portal​ Analytics Server computer. Leave the default value of 8060 unless you have changed this port.
    • Database: The name of the PostgreSQL database. Leave the default value of workgroup.
    • Database Password: The password for the tableau user, which you created earlier on the HPE Consumption Analytics Portal​ Analytics Server computer.
    • Site: The HPE Consumption Analytics Portal​ Analytics Server site whose analytics reports you want to display in Cloud Cruiser. Leave the default value of CloudCruiser unless you want to display analytics reports from all sites, including those not related to HPE Consumption Analytics Portal​. In that case, clear this field.
    • Free-Form Scenario View: The view (dashboard or worksheet) to use for analyzing a free-form What-If scenario.
      You can only select a view here after saving your Analytics configuration. Use the default Rate Modeling/Compare Rate Models view unless you have created and published another view for this purpose.
    • Single-Baseline Scenario View: The view (dashboard or worksheet) to use for analyzing a single-baseline What-If scenario.
      You can only select a view here after saving your Analytics configuration. Use the default Rate Modeling/Compare Rate Models view unless you have created and published another view for this purpose.
  5. Click Test Connection. If you get an error message, fix the error and try again.
    The message No workbooks found for site: CloudCruiser means that you did not successfully complete the procedure in Configuration in Cloud Cruiser Analytics Desktop.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Go to Administration > Users.
  8. For each user for whom you created an account in Configuration in Cloud Cruiser Analytics Server, select the Advanced Analytics role and save.
    The default admin user does not automatically have this role, so you must add it for this user just like any other.
  9. Inform these users that to see analytics reports in HPE Consumption Analytics Portal​, they must set their browser to allow third-party cookies.
    Passthrough authentication to
    HPE Consumption Analytics Portal​ Analytics Server requires this. The steps vary by browser, so consult the documentation for the browser you use.
