The alert processing in Cloud Cruiser allows you to set up standard and projected alerts and have any number of contacts notified via email of a usage alert event. You can also be notified of an alert event when users log onto the Cloud Cruiser system.

This section contains the following articles:

Alert processing is based on a customer’s budget. When defining the budget, you can specify if standard and/or projected alerts should be activated along with email contacts to receive the alert notifications.

Up to three alerting levels can be defined in two areas:

This process is a post-charge process run as a separate batch task. It utilizes Velocity email templates to build the email notifications that users can modify, and uses an SMTP delivery mechanism.

The batch task accesses the database, performs all appropriate calculations, and inserts alert instance records for each alert notification. The task then processes the notification queue and distributes the emails. If any notification fails, the record remains in the database active notification queue so that the next time the alert process runs, the notification is re-tried.

NOTE: Each user that receives an email notification will receive only one notification for each alert event level. For example, if Customer A-BB has reached the alert threshold level of 80% and the Admin contact receives an email stating this fact, then if the alert process is run the following day and Customer A-BB is still in the threshold level of 80%, the Admin contact will not receive another notification. The Admin contact will receive another notification only when the threshold level changes to the next level.
